No wonder our waistlines are getting wider! The average restaurant meal today is more than four times larger than it was in the 1950s.

A shocking new graphic from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention titled “The New (Ab)Normal” shows just how drastically portion sizes in fast food restaurants have been supersized in the last 60 years.

The size of the average burger has tripled, going from just 3.9 ounces in the 1950s to a typical 12 ounces now, according to the CDC.

Burgers are not the only foods to have increased in size, with fries and soft drinks also growing by leaps and bounds.

RYAN: It’s a great book! It’s a great book! Let’s go on to somebody over here, I think we’ve covered it pretty well. By the way, I don’t require it. I have a reading list. Lots of young people ask me what are good books. I give them Alexis de Tocqueville, I take the Founders, Friedman, Hayek, Atlas Shrugged. There are lots of good books worth reading if you want to study freedom, free enterprise, the Founders, economics. There are a lot of good books out there to read, it doesn’t mean that you subscribe to the person’s worldview and philosophy. That’s really kind of a stretch.

Very interesting article. Highlight is already doing this to a degree albeit in not that smart of a way. Its matching to me lacks substance. But I do believe that with projects like Siri once it gets 3rd party support and Googles Project Glass that we are on the precipice of this personal data matrix always surrounding us enhancing ours understanding of our surroundings and interaction with them.

Apple is failing so hard at search. Why WHY is Spotlight not integrated with the web or my other apps like say Evernote or Sparrow? And thats on the desktop. Theres no reason for it. And of course on iOS Spotlight is even more pointless. I hope this changes this year but doubtful.
