Howdy there,

Qwikster > Gamefly = WIN

Netflix/Qwikster is about to become about more than just movies they’re going to take on Gamefly with this new spinoff. And in my book, thats an automatic win.

Why?

Simple enough Gamefly’s distribution system is extraordinarily broken. With only a handful of distribution centers the turn around time for a game is up to a week, 6 days. Lets say you have a game and you live where I live, Charleston SC. You play that game you mail it back… now it takes 2-3 days for that game to get back to Gamefly’s nearest distribution center and another 2-3 days to get your next game.

With Netflix its 24-48 hours.

Point made.

So yes I for one am very glad this change is happening. It’s going to bring a viable competitor to Gamefly’s market and it shows a focus on streaming. Most people are missing the fact that Netflix has announced it hopes to add a lot of new content to streaming and to expand their licensing of content libraries. With Netflix’s management and operations team no longer having to worry about the mailing side of the business this can only be good. So stop complaining.
